For creative lives, practices & futures that deserve better structures of
support

A studio working across artist development, advocacy and cultural strategy - for the freelancers, practitioners and small organisations who hold the arts together.

That Creativity Co. works across artist development, advocacy, and cultural strategy.

We support artists, freelancers, and small creative organisations through mentoring, education, consultancy, and public discourse.

We are interested in what it means to sustain a creative practice now, particularly for those too often excluded from the centre of the arts.

Juice up your inbox with our free creative newsletter, sharing tips, ideas, opportunities and resources on creative practice and life as a modern creative.

What our members say:

    Kerry Holland

  • “It impacted my life in the biggest and most unexpected ways and I am truly grateful. It made me feel so empowered. I learned that nothing will change unless I take action and that doesn't have to be colossal. It can be one tiny step every day.”

    Phao May

  • “It made me feel quite hopeful. I was feeling quite low and it made me feel like I could take back control of my life and where I was going.”

    Henri T

  • “It felt like a heavy weight had been lifted, and feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt were replaced by trust and a feeling of believing in what I’m capable of.”

    Amy Rushent
    Movement Director

  • “Living as a freelancer and creative can often come with a sense of disempowerment and it was beautiful to be in a space which gave me the tools to feel like I had so much more agency over my career, goals and life.”

Who We Are

We're a tiny team of passionate creative badasses,
thinkers and doers, building with purpose and clarity.

A brief manifesto … of sorts

The arts are sustained by freelance labour, informal care, underpaid expertise, and extraordinary personal risk.

Too often, the people who make culture possible are asked to work without security, visibility, or meaningful support. Underrepresented artists are invited in rhetorically and pushed out structurally. Development is offered on terms that often serve institutions more than artists. Creative ambition is celebrated publicly and unsupported materially.

That Creativity Co. exists in response to this.

We support creative people in building sustainable practices and more equitable futures. We also work with organisations to think more carefully, act more responsibly, and build structures that do not extract from the people they claim to champion.

What we do for creatives:

Development

Mentoring, learning, and support for artists and creatives.

Advocacy

Writing, campaigning, and public conversation around equity and access in the arts.

Consulting

Strategic support for arts organisations, venues, and creative institutions.
